My leg/foot function continues to improve with exercise but other health issues are not. Getting a kidney is still best route to improved health. Have not had anyone come forward after the TV news story.

KENS 5 television did an interview with my wife and I. A link to it follows:

The surgery to correct the issue which prevents me from driving has been done but recent doctor visits indicate the expected recovery time may be even longer than expected. I am undergoing physical therapy (PT) to assist in this recovery. In the interim my wife is staying very busy taking care of me and taking me to dialysis 3 days a week and to doctors and PT the other 2 weekdays. As always having a functional kidney would allow both of us to have a more normal life.

Fistulas for hemodialysis have a limited lifetime. The surgeon who built mine thought it would last for 5 years, however, I needed to have a balloon angioplasty done on the fistula earlier this month.

The abdominal surgery has taken place and the incisions are healing. The surgery was two fold, to remove the port required for the first type of dialysis and to take care of another health issue. The outcome for the first reason was successful, unfortunately, the second was not. Not having a functional kidney is likely a contributing factor to this situation.

I have changed type of dialysis and I have the abdominal surgery scheduled for later this month. I have had the surgery for the new issue which prevents me from driving. The expected recovery time for this issue is 6 months or more.

The second procedure has taken place but the site is not ready to start using yet. While this has been going on, I continue to lose strength and have developed additional problems. A surgery for the new issue is scheduled for next month. The chance of positive outcomes of all the needed surgeries would be improved if I had a functioning kidney.

Due to other health issues I need to have an abdominal surgery which will prevent using the current form of dialysis. As a result I am having multiple surgeries in order to change how my dialysis will be performed. The first surgery has taken place and looks to be doing well. I will post here as the procedures take place.
